Family Focused, Family Owned

But what does that mean?

Here at Shawnee Mountain, we pride ourselves on being a mountain filled with nostalgia; more often than not we’ll see a comment from a guest along the lines of ‘I learned to ski there and now I teach my kids there!‘ Here, skiing is a generational tradition.

We proudly tout our extreme level of family friendliness, but what does that actually mean for our guests? Read on to learn about our family values and what we offer for each member of your family.

Our Family Values

Family & Independently Owned – We’ve remained family owned since our creation in 1975. We are not a corporate entity and are proud to boast about our independence, which allows us to offer a family-focused atmosphere for everyone who walks across our footbridge.

It’s All in the Family – Our staff is a tight-knit community that acts as one big family, some seasonal staff members coming back year after year. In fact, some of us actually are family! Husbands and wives, cousins, siblings, parents and children — we love it when family members come here to work together to share the joy of winter with our guests.

What do we offer your family?

For the Kids – We know how important it is to teach children young; that’s why we have our Children’s Program, which teaches lessons to children as young as 3 years old! We also have our new Mini Monster Mountain, a snowy play area for kids of all ages with no skills or equipment required. This area has been extremely popular with our younger guests and gives your littles something to do while older siblings are taking a lesson!

For all Ages – We have several activities that families can participate in together including skiing, riding, and snowtubing. Our Snowsports School teaches lessons to ages 7 and up because we know that it’s never too late to learn! We also offer discounted lift tickets to college students so that guests of all ages can enjoy some time on the slopes.

For Seniors – We have a great group of die-hard seniors that come out every year to hit the slopes. For ages 65 to 69, we offer a discounted lift ticket, and ages 70+ can ski for free!

Shawnee Mountain stands as more than just a ski destination; it embodies the spirit of family and tradition. Our commitment to family values extends beyond ownership, weaving through the fabric of our staff and creating a tight-knit community that feels more like a family. As we continue to be the chosen setting for guests to pass on the love of skiing from one generation to the next, we invite you to join us here — where family, tradition, and the joy of winter converge in perfect harmony.
