NEW Shawnee Celtic Festival
June 28 & 29 - Calling all Irish, Scottish and Welsh Clans!

Shawnee on Delaware, PA - Home to many of the Pocono Region’s largest festivals, Shawnee Mountain is pleased to announce the new 2008 Shawnee Celtic Festival to be held Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, 11am to 6pm both days, this summer on the grounds of the popular Monroe County ski area.

Produced in cooperation with East of the Hebrides Entertainments the new event promises two full days of the sights and sounds of the Emerald Isles and Scottish Highlands. Non-stop Celtic Music, with 9 bands, will be featured on 3 Stages; the main stage under the huge Fest Tent at the base of the Mountain, the Pub Stage in the air conditioned Irish Pub and the open air Courtyard Stage. A Bagpipers Parade and Fiddlers Jam are planned. Additional entertainment includes Scottish and Irish Dancers, Working Sheep Dogs, a Celtic Wizard and Scottish Juggler. A variety of Irish and Scottish Craft and Gift Vendors, Celtic Food Vendors, Wine Tent, Malt Beverage Stations and Shawnee Place Play & Water Park for the kids will add to the festivities both days.

Local Celtic Entertainers will be well represented at the 2008 Shawnee Celtic Festival, including the Pocono Region Pipes and Drums Band, Irish Dancers from the Gallagher School of Dance and the McElligott School of Irish Dance both located in Stroudsburg, PA, traditional Irish Singer Celeste from Milford, PA and the Working Sheep Dogs with Trainer Carolyn Wilki of Raspberry Ridge Sheep Farm located in Bangor, PA

The main stage musical lineup includes headliners Hadrian's Wall from Glengarry, Ontario, New York favorite the Jimmy Kelly Duo, Paddy’s Well from the Philly Area and Rathkeltair with the rocker Scottish Bagpiper Neil Anderson formerly of Seven Nations.

Pub and Courtyard entertainers include Oliver McElhone, Burning Bridget Cleary, The Irish Lads, Celeste, the King Brothers, the magic of Wizard Stephen Christopher and John the Scottish Juggler.

The event will be held rain or shine. Advanced Festival Admission, Adults $12 and Children ages 3 – 12 $10, age 2 and under FREE, will go on-sale beginning April 1. Shawnee Place is included with admission and plenty of FREE onsite parking is provided.
